Natasha Newton is a full-time artist and illustrator living and working in Suffolk, on the east coast of England. Whether walking along the beach or through the heathlands, fields and forests, she is endlessly inspired by the beautiful surroundings. She has a deep love of nature. Vast landscapes and forests, mountains, birds, stormy skies, textured fields, the stillness and silence of the countryside at night, and the magic of a full moon in a starry sky: these are just a few of the subjects and motifs that feature regularly in her paintings.

She tends to work in acrylic on canvas, and in watercolour, gouache and ink on paper, and she enjoys the versatility of water-based media. Her canvas paintings often have areas of texture, but aside from this the paint is applied in thin layers, working from dark to light and allowing each layer to remain partially visible through the subsequent layers, giving the paintings richness and depth.

Natasha has exhibited with many galleries throughout the UK and overseas, and her work has been selected several times for major shows including the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours (where she won a Winsor and Newton award for young artists), The Society of Women Artists, and the Singer and Friedlander/Sunday Times Watercolour Competition, all held at Mall Galleries, London SW1. Her work now sells to collectors worldwide, with paintings in more than twenty countries. Alongside gallery shows, she offers selected prints and originals through her online shop.

Her art has been published on book, magazine and CD covers, and on many art and design websites. Her work is also featured in three books published in 2015: Rock Art! by Denise Scicluna, Just Add Watercolour by Helen Birch, and 365 Nature by Anna Carlile.

Natasha's work illustrates extracts from Roger Deakin's diaries in the May/June 2016 issue of Resurgence & Ecologist.
