By taking part in Resurgence Slow Sunday you are recognising that small actions can lead to big change. For the first Resurgence Slow Sunday of 2009 we are celebrating the time-honoured tradition of making a New Year’s resolution. On Sunday 25th January The Resurgence Trust invites you to commit to one small action for the whole of 2009.

What will be your New Year’s resolution to serve the planet? We invite you to choose your own small action for 2009 as your personal pledge to the planet. Whether you decide to make changes to your shopping habits, get your hands dirty in the garden or simply smile more at your neighbours, every small action creates a reaction. The more people that get involved, the greater the impact.

Post your pledge on www.resurgence.org

Stuck for ideas?

As food for thought we asked some of our contributors and supporters to share their New Year resolutions to serve the planet. See our special feature overleaf.

Our membership scheme is based on thesimple philosophy that people in their own communities have the power to make a difference on a global scale. Act local, think global. This idea comestolife through our campaign Resurgence SlowSunday, where we encourage our members andreadersto take part in small meaningful acts for environmentalism and change.

It’s almost a year since we launched The Resurgence Trust membership scheme and we are delighted to report that we already have over 2,500 members.

Together we can make a difference

If you are already a subscriber, please consider joining The Resurgence Trust membership scheme as one of your Resolutions for 2009. It doesn’t cost you a penny extra as you will simply be converting your annual subscription into an annual membership (so you will continue to receive your copy of Resurgence, as usual).

As a not-for-profit organisation, your membership makes a huge difference to us because, if you are a UK tax payer, we can claim Gift Aid. So far this year the Gift Aid we have collected through membership fees has raised an extra £11,000 worth of revenue. We still have much work to do and every single penny helps.

If you are new to Resurgence, why not take out an annual membership instead of an annual subscription, it’s exactly the same cost, but if you are a UK tax payer we can also claim Gift Aid on your membership fee.
