INTERNATIONAL PERMACULTURE DAY: We are facing multiple crises. Our dependency on cheap energy and goods has come at enormous cost; increased debt, war, poverty, pollution, environmental and social breakdown are just some of the problems associated with the current and global supply chain. We need new models urgently, if we want to avoid collapse. Permaculture is a local-level solution to the issues that we face. It’s about empowering individuals and communities to produce and consume sustainably by following Nature’s lead. We can create lasting security and abundance right on our doorsteps; we can Grow Local! for food, energy and other needs to shape a better world. To find out more, join us wherever you are for International Permaculture Day, Sunday 5th May 2013: www.permacultureday.org
GAIA GROUPS are Resurgence readers’ opportunity to meet together in local groups; sharing meditation, ideas, an eco-friendly way of life, and seasonal food. If there isn't a group near you - why not start one? People are encouraged to share responsibility and rotate houses to meet in, as this makes a more democratic community, so being the founder doesn't mean you have to take on all the work. for more information on local groups across UK contact email@example.com or tel: 0845 458 4718

WALKING TOWARDS SUNRISE – MAKING CONNECTIONS: I am a Chinese student in Holistic Science at Schumacher College, UK. I plan to start a walking pilgrimage in September 2013 from the college to my hometown Guangzhou in south-eastern China, visiting ecological and spiritual centres on the way and sharing stories.
I will walk without money in order to make deep connections with people while receiving food, accommodation, etc. My wish for this pilgrimage is to explore the underlying unity in the diversity of the world from the west to the east, and to experience the beauty of Nature and humanity. East is the direction of sunrise and enlightenment. For me, this is not just a walk back home, but also a walk that connects the east and the west within me, a walk back to the source, towards sunrise, towards illumination.
My route is via France, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Albania, Greece, Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan (or via Armenia, Georgia, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan), Pakistan, India, Nepal, Bhutan, Tibet, Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Guangxi, Guangdong(China). My plan remains open and flexible.
I am looking for people who might be interested in hosting me in their hometown, or suggesting ecological/spiritual centres in different countries, or walking together for some parts or the whole of the pilgrimage. If you do, please feel free to contact me by email: firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone: +447438426310 (UK)
