Darrell Posey (who was born on 14th March 1947, and died prematurely of cancer on 6th March 2001) was one of the first activist anthropologists working in the field of biocultural diversity. His research with the Kayapó of Brazil, who seamlessly weave the practical and the spiritual, taught him the many interconnections between human wellbeing and the natural environment.
