I don’t doubt The Wisdom of Tagore (Resurgence 266), but I am perplexed by your presentation of it. In your Welcome, it is difficult to determine the precise meanings of words you use, apparently interchangeably, that are not synonymous: spirituality/religion and science/reason. But I get your drift.

Science or reason and spirituality are, in my experience, not mutually exclusive. The split between them, which you write that Tagore sought to heal, is not a feature of my mind, and many other atheistic scientists frequently protest the same. However, there are ...
