I guess you know that Didymus refers to Saint Thomas – Doubting Thomas. He’s the one not prepared to take anything on mere say-so, like that it’s Jesus back from the grave, until he’s had his own finger in the veritable wound. There is however an esoteric version that has even more bearing on the endurance of this column. It claims that Thomas was deputed to India as a missionary. He, and I’m sure Resurgence readers will agree it’s to his credit, refused. Whereupon, Christ appeared and sold him as a slave to an Indian prince.
