IT’S OFTEN EASY to forget that the world is full of environmental heroes: people who struggle, away from the limelight and for no personal gain, to make the world a better place. Fortunately, we have the Goldman Prize to remind us.

Every year, the Prize is awarded to green heroes from all continents who have shown exemplary dedication, commitment and belief in a vital cause. This year’s winners are, as ever, an inspiration: one which shows that change comes when ordinary people stand up for the Earth, against all the odds – and that they can win.
