A FRIEND OF OURS once told us about a second-hand store that she had stumbled across in Utah. The name of the store was Wabi-Sabi, which is an ancient Japanese concept, roughly translating into how beauty is found in imperfection. Wabi-sabi values the cycles of life and the careful, artful mending of damage. It also celebrates simplicity and rustic beauty, and cherishes natural flaws, which together give elegance and uniqueness to the whole.
