JANUARY IN KEY WEST is the time of the Literary Seminar, and this year’s theme was ‘Travel, Discovery and Adventure’. Many writers had travelled a long way to attend: Pico Iyer, Barry Lopez, Gretel Ehrlich, Dervla Murphy, Peter Matthiessen and Mary Morris were among them.

Why we travel; what we hope to discover; the exterior and the interior journey; what we mean by adventure: all these and a dozen other topics came up for discussion.
