Remember the Golden Rule: those who have the gold make the rules.

The invitation came on crisp, expensive card, welcoming me to an event at the ExCeL centre in London’s Docklands. The only clue to set this apart from the hundreds of other invitations that come the way of an MP was the logo: DSEI, with the ‘I’ set in the kind of target you would have on a sniper’s rifle.

Look closer, and under the acronym is the name of the event: Defence and Security Equipment International. Even this might not mean much, except that I had come across DSEI before, when I had joined protesters ...
