Sara Parkin on E.O. Wilson

It’s so hard to choose, but I nominate the biologist Ed Wilson, for his intellectual bravery, influence and transformational activism.

As a self-described “congenital synth­­esizer” he has been dubbed the New Darwin for his work on the co-evolution of human biology and culture. Energisingly hopeful are his science- and culture-based projects for restoring degraded Nature and communities. It can be done!

So please look up his latest project, Half Earth – a call to dedicate half the earth and sea to non-human life. A redemptive common purpose ...
