NEW YORK MAYOR Michael Bloomberg has announced that the city’s famous fleet of yellow taxi cabs will switch over to more environmentally friendly hybrid engines within the next five years. “There’s an awful lot of taxicabs on the streets of New York City,” he said. “These cars just sit there in traffic most of the time, belching out fumes. [Hybrid] engines are a lot less polluting so it’s going to be much better for all of us.”
