Resurgence Slow Sunday
Welcome to the Resurgence Slow Sunday initiative.
At several times throughout the year we will nominate one Sunday when we will invite our readers to take part in simple actions that symbolise a rejection of commercialism, a passion for the planet and a desire for change.
Next Slow Sunday • 25 Jul 2010 • Leisurely Youth
For many children these days, growing up can feel more like a game of catch up. Increasing expectations for youngsters to achieve more at school, be the best at popular sports and hobbies or fit the latest media-moulded fashions can leave no space for expression of their true identity. So, this Slow Sunday will take time to purposefully clear a path, rather than forge a route for their life.
More Information about Slow Sunday
The Resurgence Trust takes its inspiration from two of the most profound philosophies of our time - E.F. Schumacher’s ‘Small is beautiful’ and Mahatma Gandhi’s ‘Be the change you want to see in the world’.
We believe that big change is possible through small, meaningful actions at a local level. It is only by changing our immediate environment that we can pave the way for change on a larger scale. In other words, we can make the world a better place, but it will only happen when large numbers of people join together and practice what they believe in.
The more people who join in and embrace the ethos of Slow Sunday, the greater the impact, so invite your friends, neighbours and local community to take part in a Slow Sunday celebration.

Help Promote Slow Sundays
We would like more people to be involved in our Slow Sunday celebrations. If you think more people should join in to save the planet why not send a press release to your local newspaper or radio station to tell them what you’re doing and why you’re doing it? Here’s a template press release for you to use.
For more information on the ideas that inspired Slow Sunday, see the following articles by Resurgence Editor, Satish Kumar:
