THE CRAFTS STUDY Centre, University College for the Creative Arts at Farnham, UK has recently acquired for the permanent collections a Tula chair by Guy Martin, along with its perhaps less sophisticated antecedent, a willow dining chair. These two chairs, sitting together, are displayed in the Centre’s exhibition Transformations, a review of the permanent collections. The central theme of the show is explored by historic craft figures as well as by contemporary makers. Alongside Martin, work by the potter Emmanuel Cooper, the textile artist Diana Harrison and the calligrapher Ann Hechle is presented.
