The UK’s ‘Big Green’ campaign groups already know it, but you might not. There’s a new kid in town. And its name is ClientEarth.

In the 10 years since it started up in Hackney, north-east London, this specialist environmental charity and its 100 staff, 60 of them lawyers, have made some very big waves. For that, thanks are due to ClientEarth founder James Thornton, who arrived in London in 2007 to set up his new organisation, fresh from California, where he had established and directed the Los Angeles branch of the Natural Resources Defense Council, a non-profit group of environmental lawyers.
