The good news is that the brewing industry is much more sustainable than it was 20 years ago: a recent report by the British Beer & Pub Association, Brewing Green, states that total CO2 emissions from the UK’s brewing industry fell by 42% in the 10 years to 2018 – a reduction of 202,952 tonnes – and data from the Environment Agency shows that UK breweries now recover and reuse 98% of their waste.
