When I was asked if I could write for Resurgence about how things were going in the US, about what I myself was doing, and about ‘active hope’ – that term that the wonderful late Joanna Macy so beautifully used – at first I said I’d be honoured to, but then I found myself unable to write anything coherent. I’d write something, look at the news, the tone would seem off, and I would delete everything I’d written.
