Wars in modern times have become unnecessary, irrational and lethal. There are no good reasons to destroy homes, hospitals and schools just to settle disputes between governments that, in the end, need resolving by diplomacy and dialogue. There are no rational grounds whatsoever for killing innocent children, pregnant women and indeed any ordinary people who have done nothing to deserve death and destruction, especially when in the end peace must be agreed among neighbours across the negotiating table.
