Working in the Garden of Mystery
Richard Cartwright, whose artwork accompanies David E Cooper's Keynotes article, Mystery and the Way of the Garden, in Issue 306 of Resurgence & Ecologist (January/February 2018), was born in 1951 and studied art at Goldsmiths, University of London.
His work, predominantly in pastel, is frequently inspired by his own small garden in Bristol, where he is based. He often works alone at night, which adds to the dark, expectant quality of his pieces.
An exhibition of his paintings runs from 28 Feb to 16 Mar 2018 at the Adam Gallery in Bath. The exhibition can be previewed at Old Brompton Gallery in London from 22 to 24 Feb 2018.
