John Lane, a long-time Art Editor of Resurgence, left this world on 17 August 2012. Born in 1930 in Croydon, he went to the Slade School of Fine Art and became a teacher. Later he served Dartington Hall Trust, for more than 30 years, as a trustee, a Chairman and, more informally, as an inspiration and mentor to many who worked at Dartington. He played a pivotal role in the establishment of Schumacher College. He was a prolific painter and was the author of many books, including Timeless Simplicity.
