How long have you been dancing, and why is dancing important to you?
I FIRST DISCOVERED Oriental belly-dance at sixteen years old when my mother took me to a local class. I was a moody teenager with low self-esteem. My mother was worried about my moods and although she was not a dancer herself she knew this dance could force negativity out of my body, reduce stress and enhance peace and healing. This proved right. My self-esteem improved; I started to accept myself. The six-week course culminated in my first performance in Avebury Village Hall.
