MICHAEL MEACHER: LABOUR POLITICIAN WHO EMBRACED ENVIRONMENTAL CAUSE

Michael Meacher, Labour MP and former environment minister, who died in October aged 75 after a short illness, was one of the more prominent figures in his party to have embraced environmental issues. He supported several Resurgence events as well as writing for Resurgence & Ecologist, most recently to oppose the controversial proposed transatlantic trade deal, the TTIP.
