Having grown up next to a National Park instilled a lifelong appreciation for the environment and has made me dedicated to spreading awareness about the conservation issues it faces today. This led me to use my passion for illustration as a way to communicate my love for our natural world and its inhabitants. Creating interesting compositions as well as utilizing vibrant colour, my goal is to inspire wonder and curiosity in the viewer.

My illustration style is imaginative and whimsical, exaggerating subjects and elements that make an impactful image. My process often starts with simple sketching or writing before taking my images to the computer where I create the final digital illustration. Sometimes I like to create different textures and scan them in to then add to, which creates more dimension and interest.

Poetry is another form of art that inspires me like Wendell Berry's 'The Peace of Wild Things'. I also like to make images to accompany educational quotes that I find interesting about the subjects I illustrate such as insects. All of these things instil meaning into my work which gives me purpose and a sense of fulfilment, to help in my own way.

Kristina's artwork Insect World appears on the cover of the March/April 2025 Issue (349) and a detail from her illustration The Peace of Wild Things, appears on the inside front cover.
