Speakers

Henri Bortoft is an independent researcher in the philosophy of science. He did postgraduate research on the problem of wholeness in quantum physics with David Bohm and Basil Hiley at Birkbeck College. He regularly opens up a new world to his listeners, including on the MSc in Holistic Science at Schumacher College.

Ilan Pappé of the Institute of Arab and Islamic studies is one of the world's leading historians of the Middle East, with a distinctive view of Arab-Israeli relations. He has published extensively on the history of the Arab-Israeli conflict and his experiences have resulted in some very incisive thought on what it is to be a historian and the methodology of historical enquiry. Philip Franses is faculty lecturer in Holistic Science at Schumacher College. From his search to the source of science and spirit, there has flowed a series of presentations, workshops, papers. The Process and Pilgrimage forum, begun in 2009 using elements of Basil Hiley’s mathematics of process and Satish Kumar’s philosophy of pilgrimage, has broadened into a widely engaged inquiry.

Seeing Through Paradox is part of the Process and Pilgrimage series of events. Process and pilgrimage is a forum for intellectual and practical inquiry, where exploring another way of being in the world is significant in creating renewal. Lessons understood from the practise of individual awareness form the subtle stage of a call for action. Going further from previous events (see www.earthlinksall.com/paradox), the inquiry continues in Italy.
