OXFAM REPORT ON INEQUALITY CALLS FOR A ‘HUMAN ECONOMY’

Oxfam is calling for more companies to follow the lead of multinational Mondragon – which is owned by its workforce of 74,000 and where the highest-paid employee earns no more than nine times the lowest – in a bid to tackle soaring rates of global inequality. In its new report, An Economy for the 99%, the charity highlights how extreme inequality has become – just eight men own the same wealth as the poorest half of the world – and outlines how a “human economy” can be achieved.
