According to EU figures, between 2011 and 2012 the consumption of organic wines in France went up by 57%. Even so, this constituted only a tiny 3% of the total consumed. During that same year, consumption of organic wines increased in Austria by 35%, to 7.8%. In Germany, the increase was by 6%, to 4.5%. In the UK, however, between 2011 and 2012 the proportion of organic wine consumed decreased by 2.5% and in 2012 represented only 1.4% of total consumption. UK consumers, it seems, are missing out on something important happening in the vineyards.
