The human rights group Amnesty International has launched an appeal for the release of Ahmed Mansoor, once described as “the last remaining free human rights activist working in the United Arab Emirates”. Ahmed Mansoor is being held in prison after a surprise midnight raid on his home in March. He had used his blog and Twitter account to speak out against human rights violations in the UAE.
