It’s so hard to choose, but I nominate the biologist Ed Wilson, for his intellectual bravery, influence and transformational activism.
As a self-described “congenital synthesizer” he has been dubbed the New Darwin for his work on the co-evolution of human biology and culture. Energisingly hopeful are his science- and culture-based projects for restoring degraded Nature and communities. It can be done!
