I’m no writer of Hollywood superhero screenplays, but if I were I’d probably start with a shy, awkward teenager. Not one from a big city like New York or London, but one from a small, obscure town far from the spotlight. This teen wouldn’t be particularly outstanding – not the smartest or fastest kid in class, but just average, blending into the crowd.

And then one day something seemingly insignificant would spark ‘the big reveal’ of their hidden superpower. Think of Harry Potter talking to a snake, or Clark Kent racing a train. We’ve all seen this story arc before – in fact, almost every superhero ...
