"Make your way lightly, with the sun on your bones..."
I'm Lauren Marina, an illustrator, poet and pattern designer living and working by the sea from my home studio in Dorset.
Let me touch your heart, connect with your soul and encourage you to go a little more slowly. My passion is to create bold and striking illustrations that are reflective of the energy and abundance of Mother Earth, and that also spark meaningful emotional connections with the viewer.
I work using a limited palette and a digital technique that is a contemporary blend of my traditional printmaking roots with my love for hand drawing. I hope to evoke a sense of joy, connection and calm with every project.
I spend a lot of time thoughtfully exploring the wide variety of local woods and lowland heathland with my sketchbook in hand. It is in these natural spaces, under the trees, where so much of my creative inspiration is cultivated.
In tandem with my drawing practice, I write poetry that is deeply rooted in a sense of wonder for awe-inspiring 'small Nature' - the simple natural objects or movements that might be overlooked and unseen in today's fast world.
Alongside my own creative work I offer mindful drawing workshops and mentoring for fellow artists.
Lauren Marina's illustration 'Oak Tree' features on the inside cover of Issues 340 and 341 of Resurgence & Ecologist.
