Pauline Bewick (born 1935) was raised on a small farm in County Kerry, Ireland. In the late 1930s, her mother, Harry, left Northumberland, England with Pauline and her sister and took them to Ireland.

Following their time in Kerry, they lived in Wales and then once again in England, moving from progressive school to school, living in a caravan, a houseboat, a railway carriage, a workman's hut, a gate lodge and, later, a Dublin city house.

In the 1970s, Bewick returned to Kerry with her husband and their two daughters. She and her daughter Poppy now work from their studios in a beautiful valley in the Reeks District. Bewick bought an old farmhouse in Tuscany in the 1970s, where her second daughter, Holly, also an artist, now works and lives with her family.

Bewick started to paint at the age of two and has continued throughout her life. On turning 70, she donated 500 pieces of her life's work to the Irish nation. The Seven Ages collection represents each decade and facets of a woman's life and is on display in Waterford and Kerry.

Resurgence & Ecologist Issue 319 has an arts feature on Bewick and her daughter Poppy Melia.
