The Nov/Dec issue (Resurgence 257) was very inspiring – particularly the articles about forestation, planting and conserving landscapes and all the related lifeforms from birds to flowers. Here, in the temperate rainforest where I live surrounded by firs and red cedar, it seemed the forests could go on forever, yet we are destroying our trees’ genetic history by the constant cutting and logging of what remains of our old-growth forests.
