The rise of the small festival means that whatever your taste – literary, eco, dancy, folky, family or foodie – there’s a festival out there for you. Here are a few Resurgence favourites.
Sunrise Celebration: Billed as the Festival of Organic Arts and Culture, this is known for its “organically-grown good vibes” and a commitment to following an ethical and environ-mental path.
Larmer Tree Festival: Described by those in the know as “the best kept secret”, this is an intimate gathering of like-minded folk held at the lush Larmer Tree Gardens near Salisbury.
Green Man: A family-friendly folk festival set in the stunning Brecon Beacons in Wales.
WOMAD: A global party, celebrating world music, arts and dance.
Waveform: The only sustainable dance music festival in the UK. Highlights include the Earth Dance Stage and a whole day dedicated to humanitarian and environmental causes.
2000 Trees: Supporting local com-munities and new music, this was the winner of the Grass Roots Festival Award in 2010.
Croissant Neuf Summer Party: A festival championing the ideal of living a low-impact lifestyle whilst having the maximum amount of fun.
The Big Tent: Scotland’s Environmental Festival. Launched as part of the grassroots protests during the G8 summit at Gleneagles in 2005, the festival is dedicated to promoting ecological long-term thinking.
