WHEN DOROTHY AND Leonard Elmhirst bought Dartington Hall in Devon, back in 1925, they dreamt of providing a home both for themselves and for the radical social, economic and cultural vision they wished to create: a vision of reconnecting with the soil, and making rural life work again.
