David Nicholson-Lord, whose death at the age of 67 was reported in our last issue, was a columnist and regular correspondent for Resurgence in the 1990s and early 2000s. He was an entertaining writer, with a wry style, and an eye for pomposities in need of deflating. Perhaps most entertaining were his ‘Up the Elephant and Round the Castle’ diary columns, from which we reprint below this extract from Jan/Feb 1994 (Issue 162).
