When, last May, Resurgence celebrated its 50th anniversary, Satish Kumar announced he would be standing down as Editor-in-Chief of The Resurgence Trust in August, on his 80th birthday. The resulting tributes were not least because of his sheer editorial longevity. Some 43 years at the helm had made him Britain’s longest-serving editor.
But he might very nearly not have been. As he prepared for this, his last issue, Satish recalled that when he joined Resurgence as editor there were worries that the magazine might not survive.
