Zehra Doğan, an artist and award-winning journalist from Turkey, is the subject of our appeal this issue. PEN International, which campaigns for freedom of expression, considers her imprisonment – last March she was jailed for a total of two years, nine months and 22 days – a violation of her right to freedom of expression as an artist and a journalist, and has called for her immediate and unconditional release.
